Right off Johnston Street in the MidCity area of Lafayette is one of the most unique restaurant concepts in Acadiana.
With a menu that is regularly updated to include ingredients sourced from farms and suppliers in close proximity to their kitchen, Social Southern Table & Bar offers a dining experience normally reserved for metropolitan areas much larger than our own.
For this reason, we closely follow what’s new at the restaurant and were delighted when we heard they were dropping a new cocktail made with JT Meleck Vodka.
We stopped by just before lunch recently and met one of their bartenders, Jacob, who told us about Social’s new cocktail named The Dude made with JT Meleck Vodka, Bayou Coffee Liqueur, and half & half.
“[We] were looking for a more simplified recipe for a White Russian; our previous recipe was too in-depth and more appropriate as a dessert. [Our] bar manager Bryan came up with the idea to use coffee liqueur and rum,” Jacob explained.
Curious about what else we might learn from the connoisseurs of Southern food and drink, we asked Jacob about his favorite cocktail to make for friends and were not disappointed by his response: “Classic Sazerac because of its simplicity and historical nature.”

About JT Meleck’s Countdown to 21
This December, we embarked on a journey that took us across the state to 21 Louisiana-owned restaurants and bars serving JT Meleck Vodka. At each location, we documented a signature cocktail from their menu to come up with a list of 21 cocktails to help us count down the days to 2021. Beginning Friday, December 11, 2020, we’ll be featuring a different restaurant and cocktail each day on the JT Meleck website and posting it on our Facebook and Instagram feed.
