Fake News: “Vodka is Tasteless”

Most people think that vodka is odorless and tasteless, but that couldn’t be farther from the truth.

No vodka is ever the same in taste and odor due to changes in raw materials, water and the chosen recipe.

Vodka used to only be made from potatoes, but nowadays, brands like J.T. Meleck are using different grains, like rice, to create their vodka. These new grains introduce new characteristics to the spirit that directly affect the smell and taste. Not only that, but the number of times the vodka is distilled will have an effect on the smell and taste of the finished spirit.

With that being said, if your vodka is, in fact, odorless and tasteless, either one of two things is true: 1) your kids switched it for water, or 2) you have the C word!

Next time you’re experimenting with different vodka brands, think about the Four F’s:

  1. Fragrance
  2. Flavor
  3. Feel
  4. Finish

The Four F’s will provide you with a profile of the vodka. Do you know what the Four F’s of J.T. Meleck Rice Vodka is?
