For the Initial Release of their American Rice Whiskey
I know what some of you are thinking…”initial release?” How could this be the initial release if I was sipping on the Founder’s Edition last December?
To answer that we’re going to have to admit that we had absolutely no idea what we were doing when we decided to make rice whiskey. Just a couple of Louisiana rice farmers looking at this giant copper still thinking “well that ain’t no tractor” then ordering barrels over the phone like there is only one type…spoiler alert: there is NOT just one type of barrel!
What arrived on our first order was about 15, 30-gallon barrels. We filled those babies up, got six months into sampling when we found out that the ‘order over the phone when you have no idea what you’re talking about’ method had us using barrels that were too small! 53-gallon barrels are your standard barrel, and the size we’ve been using ever since that discovery.
Those 30-gallon barrels brought to life the delicious, why is my bottle already empty, Founder’s Edition you all know and love. There were only 1200 bottles and there will never be any more quite like it (unless we order over the phone again). What we are about to release is something completely different, a whole ‘nother experience that our founder, Mike Fruge, thinks is even better than the Founder’s Edition, and what will be consistently released into the market, each year having more and more bottles available.
What is coming is made with 100% rice, a true American whiskey made from our rice on our farm. It has been through 4 complete harvests, and it is ready for your enjoyment!
